Teddy Afro Teddy Afro guilty over death, says court while many see a political motivation in the sentence

Ethiopia's most popular singer was found guilty of running the man down in his car and driving away without reporting the incident.

According to BBC's Elizabeth Blunt, who was in the courtroom, Teddy tried to protest as sentence was passed and was hushed by his lawyers.

As he left the court, he told journalists: "I never killed anyone, I didn't get justice from this court."

Many ethiopians believe the charges against him were politically motivated.

The sentence is expected on Friday; Teddy may face between five and 15 years in prison.
