Teddy Afro Released Print E-mail

Teddy AfroEthiopian pop star, Tewodros Kassahun (aka Teddy Afro) was released from jail on August 13, 2009. Found guilty of manslaughter for the death of 18 year old Degu Yibelte, the renowned singer also denied the charge arguing he was outside Ethiopia the day of the accident.

The 32-year-old singer appeared on the Ethiopian Television (ETV) and had his first interview with journalist Tsion Girma.

Political Internet Filtering in Ethiopia
Ethiopia is the only country in sub-Saharan Africa to actively engage in political censorship of the Internet. Since May 2006, the top five most popular Ethiopian web sites (including CyberEthiopia) and several blogs have been blocked across the nation. The apparent objective is to prevent the dissemination of information that is critical of the regime.
